Abstract
Labour market policies for work-life balance in light of demographic ageing – indirect benefits and support for working caregivers
The demographic ageing trends affect different domains of human life and policy responses to address the care needs of older people. Particularly vulnerable are working caregivers who are expected to be both productive at the labour market and simultaneously provide informal nonmarket care for the dependent family members. This situation is often aggravated due to sporadic societal crises such as economic crises, Covid 19 and alike.
The paper will in more detail elaborate on the above issues. Besides official state policies and local and cultural context, it will incorporate the employers’ initiatives. Specific focus will be put on indirect benefits designed in the labour market for harmonization of the working and family life of caregivers. Health, educational, social and services related to the private needs of employed caregivers will be presented.
